Collection: Daniel Sage

Daniel, a lifelong wine enthusiast, is entirely self-taught as a winemaker. Born in the suburbs of Lyon and raised in Saint-Étienne, he originally trained as a locksmith. Life took him down many different paths before he ultimately anchored himself in his true passion: wine.

He first opened a small wine shop, while gradually beginning to make wine in increasingly serious quantities. What started as a personal project soon grew into something more, encouraged by friends who recognized his talent. In 2011, he decided to devote himself fully to working with grapes and crafting his own wines.

In his early days, his friend Jean Delobre offered invaluable support as Daniel set up his first cellar in an old industrial building in Saint-Sauveur-en-Rue, near Annonay. Daniel’s own vineyards are located in Bogy, where he cultivates Gamay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Viognier. He also sources grapes from Villeneuve-de-Berg and Valvignères.

In the vineyard, he works without compromise, 100% organically. This philosophy continues in the cellar, where intervention is reduced to the absolute minimum: no filtration, no fining, no pumps, and strictly no sulfur under any circumstances.

Daniel’s wines are true reflections of their creator: distinctive, captivating, and lingering long in the memory, shaped by his remarkable sensitivity and talent. Each year, he produces at least ten different cuvées, as he finds it nearly impossible to blend together wines with such individual personalities.

The labels are as unmistakable as the wines themselves. They feature paintings by the Belgian artist Jean Raine, of whom Daniel is a devoted admirer. Each cuvée is named after one of Raine’s works, and the bottle design reflects the spirit of the chosen painting.
