Andi Mann
Eckelsheim is located in the southwestern corner of Rheinhessen, bordering the Nahe wine region. The Mann family settled here in 1699, establishing a farm, planting vineyards, and producing wine ever since. Andi Mann represents the eleventh generation, carrying forward the family’s winemaking tradition.
After studying economics, Andi took over the family estate, bringing a fresh, holistic approach focused on sustainability and harmony with nature. Today, the estate prioritizes farming in tune with natural cycles and giving both vineyard and cellar the time required for wines to reach optimal maturity.
In addition to biodynamic viticulture, Andi aims to capture the unique character of the growing area in the wines. The estate combines traditional soil management with the presence of animals. Sheep maintain natural ground cover and prevent nutrient erosion.
The Mann estate includes some distinctive vineyard plots. The northern slope of Eckelheimer features volcanic porphyry, imparting elegance, cooler acidity, and occasionally a subtle smoky note. Other plots rest on limestone soils, producing wines with remarkable complexity and variety of flavors.
The estate’s focus is on Riesling and Müller-Thurgau, complemented by Silvaner and Dornfelder, as well as classic Burgundian varieties including Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay.
