Hugo Vercasson
Hugo Vercasson, born in 1999, boasts an impressive professional experience in various wineries in the Rhône Valley despite his young age. While working for Jeff Malsert (Domaine Iserand), Hugo started his own project in the Arras-sur-Rhône and Eclassan areas, in the southern part of the Saint-Joseph appellation.
In 2021, Hugo took over a small plot of land that was excluded from the Saint-Joseph appellation due to strict regulations, as it was considered too high above sea level, despite being only a few steps away from the AOC area. He planted Syrah from Cornas in this vineyard, and while these also come into fruition, he is trying to acquire previously leased areas in the heart of the Saint-Joseph appellation.
To this day, he cultivates a total of about two hectares in the rolling hills of the Vallée du Doux.
Everything in the vineyard is done strictly by hand, as it should be with such a steep terrain, some vineyards are already organically certified, while others are in the process of conversion. His first harvest was in 2022, producing three reds and one white, a total of about 4,500 bottles. The wonderful labels were created by illustrator Jules Maillard.
