Collection: Thomas Batardiere

Thomas's more than unusual life path – anthropological and film studies, a brief career as a film director – led him to Anjou, where he first tried his hand at the role of cellar master at Château Yvonne and became acquainted with natural winemaking.

In 2011, he bought 2 hectares of vineyards in Rablay-sur-Layon, where he saw some promising land next door to Richard Leroy. The soil was a mixture of red sand, gravel and deep clay, which Thomas could not have dreamed of better for the realization of his plans.
He began to cultivate organic and biodynamic viticulture with great care, as a result of which the entire estate received the Demeter certification in 2015. He currently farms almost 4 hectares, where the spotlight is mainly on Chenin, but there is also a smaller Grolleau and a Cabernet Franc plantation.

In the cellar, Thomas' guiding principle is "zero-zero", meaning there is no place for added ingredients, only perfect and mature raw materials. As he puts it, common sense rules here.
The wines made this way are refreshingly fresh, excitingly vibrant, carrying within them the potential that only the greatest Chenins are capable of.
