The Pieroth family has been growing grapes in Nahe since 1781. Now it is Christine's turn to give new life to the old vines and centuries-old barrels.

Nahe is located halfway between Rheinhessen and Mosel, and appears as a kind of middle ground between the two well-known wine regions, both in terms of its geographical and natural features. Nowhere else in Germany do such extreme conditions exist, the Hunsrück mountains, although they provide protection against early spring frosts, also divert the rain in a different direction.

The composition of the soil is also unique along the Nahe: volcanic rocks, clay, sandstone, with some slate peeking out here and there. "I am lucky to be able to work with such talents, you can feel and taste the complexity that this growing area provides in the wines."

Flowers and wild plants flourish between the rows, and beetles, bees and butterflies buzz. This kind of biodiversity is essential for Christine, who is also delving deeper into the mysteries of biodynamic farming. Her garden has nettles, chamomile and other herbs, from which she makes teas for the grapes. The local flora is also reflected on the bottles. The leaves on the label always come from the trees surrounding the given vineyard, from which Piri makes an imprint before they are given a digital form.

The wines are pure and precise, just as nature intended them to be. They are bottled unfiltered, unfined and without the addition of sulfur, or in some cases with a hint of sulfur added just before bottling. The secrets to their red wines include wild yeasts on the surface of the grapes and in the cellar, German oak barrels and the balanced climate of the centuries-old cellar.
