Collection: Yann Durieux

Yann Durieux is a rare talent, a fourth-generation winemaker from Nuits-Saint-Georges who revealed his gift at just 13, crafting his first vintage entirely on his family estate.

After years of learning through internships and travels across the world, he returned to Burgundy’s pinnacle of mastery: the Prieuré Roch estate. There, under the guidance of Henry-Frédéric — director of the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti since 1992 — Yann absorbed every nuance of the craft. Henry, who saw Yann as a son, entrusted him with producing his own 2008 and 2009 vintages within the estate’s revered cellars.

Since 2010, Yann has been creating his wines in his own cellar, drawing from vineyards in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, in the very shadow of Romanée-Conti. Here, 15 hectares of older Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Aligoté stretch across Villers-la-Faye, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Gevrey-Chambertin, all farmed biodynamically. The limestone plateau rise to 500 meters, the soil barely 10–20 cm deep. Plant protection is minimal — a touch of copper diminishing every year, complemented by an array of powerful herbal teas. Pruning is abandoned, allowing the vines’ fallen shoots to form natural bridges (Les Ponts), preserving the plants’ innate energy and balance.

In the cellar, Yann’s philosophy is the same as in the vineyard: minimal, precise, and entirely respectful of nature. Grapes are treated with extraordinary care: whole-bunch handling, spontaneous fermentation, no chaptalization, no pump-overs, no sulfur so that every bottle reflects the vitality and spirit of the vineyard.

The wines are alive, energetic, and utterly expressive: delicate yet powerful, untainted, and fully bearing the story of their unique terroir. Yann’s creations are not just wine, they are a living dialogue between vine, earth, and human hands, a testament to the raw poetry of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits.
