Collection: Etienne Seignovert

In 2020, Étienne established his winery in Saint-Barthélemy-le-Plain, in the Doux River Valley.

Raised in a family of restaurateurs and passionate natural wine lovers, he did not arrive in the wine world by chance. Growing up surrounded by good bottles and lively discussions about wine gave him both sensitivity and direction from an early age.

His project is based partly on estate-grown fruit and partly on carefully selected négoce grapes. In 2019, he acquired his own vineyards (planted with Syrah, Merlot, Marsanne, Roussanne, and Gamay) located just a few kilometers from the cellar on the granite terraces of the Doux Valley, at elevations of 300–400 meters.

The grapes he purchases always come through personal relationships, from growers who share a similar philosophy. Most are sourced from Ardèche, while his Jacquère comes from Domaine Blard in Savoie.

In the vineyard, Étienne’s goal is to preserve and encourage biodiversity, allowing plants, animals, and soil life to function in balance. Soil work is limited to the vine rows, and treatments are restricted to low doses of sulfur and copper, complemented by herbal infusions and plant-based teas.

In the cellar, intervention is kept to an absolute minimum. The grapes are harvested in small 18 kg crates to preserve their integrity, and for red wines he often favors whole-bunch fermentation. His aim is to craft wines that are as untouched as possible, adding only minimal sulfur and only when necessary to ensure stability.
