Géza’s popular estate blend changes every year, but the goal remains the same: to showcase the terroir and create joyful, lively wines. The 2022 vintage is composed of 50% Blaufränkisch from Bátaszék, fermented for 7 days using whole-cluster carbonic maceration, complemented by 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the château’s surrounding vineyards, grown at low yields, partly destemmed by hand and partly directly pressed, and fermented for 12 days in tanks. Sixty percent of the wine fermented in barrels, 40% in tanks, and it was bottled in July 2023 without added sulfur. The 2022 vintage, marked by extreme drought and heat, produced thick skins and dense extraction, resulting in a warmer, more approachable wine, while still showing subtle tingling notes from the carbonic maceration.

Géza’s journey to Mohács took him along unexpected twists and turns, guided by a mix of chance, timing, and an open-minded curiosity about the world of wine. Originally from Upper Hungary (now Slovakia), his father had vineyards near Kürt. While no wine was ever produced there, the family’s passion for a cellar was inherited by Géza.
