Welschriesling harvested from 40-year-old vines, fermented whole bunch in amphora for 8 days, then aged in 600L wooden barrels, and similarly harvested Chardonnay from around 40 years old vines, which after whole bunch pressing is aged in 500L wooden barrels, under the lees. Precise, sophisticated, with very nice minerality, with fresh pear-peach aromas and excellent barrel use.

Johannes Zillinger learned the craft of organic winemaking from his father at an early age, developing a philosophy that sees the vineyard not just as a plot of land, but as a living habitat. His father, Hans, who turned to organic viticulture in 1983, two years before the glycol scandal, became one of Austria’s early pioneers in the field.
