Merlot from the Szerémség region, in Karlóca, sourced from the Krisztus vineyard planted by Oszkár in 2009. The grapes were harvested in three passes to capture different expressions of the fruit: a late September pick for vibrant, fruit-forward notes, an early October harvest for ripe, deeper flavors, and a final harvest at the end of October, including slightly shriveled berries with fully lignified seeds and stems, adding complexity. The wine was aged for 12 months in used 225-liter barrels, then bottled by gravity directly from the cask, without the use of pumps or bottling machinery, and without fining, filtration, or added sulfur.

Maurer Oszkár
Oszkár Maurer, a fourth-generation winemaker whose great-grandfather also worked in the region, lives and farms his lands in Hajdújárás, 35 kilometers from Szeged, just across the Hungarian border. His vineyards straddle two historically significant areas: the South Csongrád wine region and the Szerémség region, often considered the cradle of Hungarian wine culture.
