Fruit from this parcel was used for À fleur de peau in 2022, but for the 2023 vintage Henri opted for a significantly longer maceration.
The site is a tiny parcel of just over 0.2 hectares, planted to old Chardonnay vines on a steep slope at the edge of the village. The soils are dominated by weathered basalt, complemented by fractured limestone.
Following traditional destemming by hand through a metal mesh, the wine remained on skins for nine months. Pressing was carried out in an old ratchet-operated wooden press, after which the wine was aged for a further 12 months in a seasoned 400L barrel. The result is a deeply textured, site-driven expression shaped by extended skin contact and patient élevage.

Henri Chauvet
Born in 1987, Henri Chauvet lives and works in Boudes, in the Auvergne wine region of southern France. In 2020, he traded his suit for rubber boots, leaving behind a career in insurance to study viticulture and oenology.
During his apprenticeship in the Rhône Valley, he honed his craft under the guidance of Jérôme Bressy and the legendary Thierry Allemand of Cornas.
