For the 2023 vintage, all of the Gamay previously destined for the Au Chant de la Huppe and Rouge 2022 cuvées was brought together into this single bottling.
The fruit comes from two parcels planted predominantly to old Auvergne and Beaujolais Gamay vines, with small amounts of other Gamay clones interplanted throughout.
The soils are split between iron oxide-rich red clay with near-surface limestone blocks, and heavily weathered granite laced with quartz.
Vinification began with one week of whole-cluster maceration in large stainless steel tanks, with the cap managed exclusively by manual bucket wetting to keep it gently hydrated. The wine was then aged for nine months—50% in old 228L barrels and 50% in stainless steel—followed by a further nine months of bottle aging before release. The result is a finely detailed, terroir-driven Gamay that balances freshness and purity of fruit with layered texture, mineral depth, and quiet structural complexity.
