The hand-harvested Grüner Veltliner was macerated on the skins for 10 hours in small crates; and after a gentle and slow 8-hour pressing, it was transferred to 700-liter oak barrels and aged for 12 months on lees without added sulfur. Hence the name 12. No fining was used for this batch either - time was the most important factor in achieving the wine's balance. It received a minimal amount of sulfur before bottling.

Michael Gindl
The Gindl family has been farming in Hohenruppersdorf since 1807, where they deal with crops, livestock, forestry and wine. Michael, the sixth generation of the family, has been involved in the work since 2002. He was still an agricultural school student when, after the death of his grandfather, the winemaking part of the family business came into his hands.
